Feel free to contact me if your question is not answered here.
How much do you charge?
The cost for an hour session is $100, by cash, check, or credit card at time of service. The Bodywork page has information on discounts and other session lengths.
Do you take insurance?
No, I don’t. I can prepare receipts for you to be reimbursed if you have an out of network massage benefit and/or a doctor’s referral.
What are your hours?
I offer appointments Wednesdays 9am-5pm, Thursdays 1pm-8pm, Fridays 9am-5pm, and one Saturday a month, usually the second Saturday. I can schedule free 15 minute phone consultations on other days. I try to respond to email and phone calls within 24 hours, usually sooner, sometimes later.
What is a session like?
Sessions are different for each person. With some clients, we talk for a while first, maybe even the whole session, while others get right on the table. Some clients want a full body massage, and some want little touch, or none at all. There is usually a lot of conversation about what the client is sensing, and some sessions are silent. There is a big focus on staying grounded enough for emotions to be manageable, even when big emotions come up. The client’s preferences, comfort, and safety are my highest priority.
Can I have a mix of modalities in my session?
Yes! Usually a session has a basic framework of one kind of work (CranioSacral, or massage, or Somatic Experiencing, for example), and the other modalities get mixed in as needed. You can also ask for half of each up front, or change your mind during the session. I do my best to sense what’s needed. For the client, paying attention to what you need and asking for it is part of the work and can be a big challenge.
How long does it take to get better?
Some clients are stuck about a specific issue, come in for a handful of sessions, and experience a big shift. Some clients are processing Complex PTSD and come in regularly for years. You can expect to feel better at least in some small way starting from the first session.
How often should I come in?
Check inside, and see what feels right to you. Some clients come every week because they want the support and momentum. Some clients come every two weeks because they need time to process each session. Some clients come every three or four weeks because that’s the rhythm that works for them. Some clients come more or less often depending on what is happening at different times. After I meet you, I can give you my sense of what might work for you, but it’s ultimately your choice.
How did you come to focus on trauma?
My own trauma history gives me the impetus to learn about trauma healing and the desire to help others heal. In addition, I discovered early on that my bodywork brings up people’s “stuff”, so I want clients to know that up front.
