Sundown Healing Arts

Intuitive, compassionate bodywork for trauma

Other Bodywork

Other Bodywork Techniques

Along with the main focus on Reiki, Massage, and CranioSacral Therapy, I have added several other techniques to my toolbox, and continue to take classes and learn additional techniques on an ongoing basis.

I started my formal education in touch with a certification in Asian Systems, which includes Shiatsu and Acupressure. I have integrated these techniques and the philosophies behind them into my practice. From Acupressure, I bring in awareness of the meridians, which are energy pathways in the body, and the idea of holding two different points and encouraging an energy connection between them. From Shiatsu, I bring in stretching, rocking, deep pressure that moves with the breath, and the idea of having a moving hand (yang) and a still hand (yin). Both of these techniques are done over clothes, providing you the option for fully-clothed massage.

Continuing the Asian Systems theme, I have also studied Reflexology, which treats the whole body through intensive attention to the feet. In addition to the luxurious feeling of a foot massage, correspondences between areas on the feet and the rest of the body provide extra support for healing.

Zero Balancing, developed by Fritz Smith, is a bodywork technique which balances structure and energy. With gentle touch over clothes, the densest part of the body – bone – is balanced with the least dense – energy. I have studied Core Zero Balancing I and II, and often incorporate stretches and “fulcrums” into my sessions.
